New Zealand is now at Alert Level 4 on the Government's Coronavirus Covid-19 Response Plan. This means that all New Zealand residents and visitors, and enterprises and business not deemed an essential service, must stay at home. Any situation where contact could be made risks passing on the virus, and should therefore be avoided wherever possible.

As Taranaki's regional development agency, Venture Taranaki is focused on helping the region's enterprises manage the impacts and implications of this lockdown period. Read details of specific programmes and packages to help business below.

For residents, visitors, students and others in Taranaki who are also being adversely impacted by the lockdown, the Government's COVID-19 page has some useful resources.

We have one opportunity to contain and control the impacts of COVID-19 on our community. Venture Taranaki asks that you stay home, stay away from others, and stay safe.

Venture Taranaki Support

As the Regional Business Partner for the Taranaki region, Venture Taranaki is working with the Government to access $4 million in additional funding to ensure businesses are receiving practical advice and are supported as they experience impacts of COVID-19. This will see Venture Taranaki offer additional advisory support and information sessions/workshops. More information will be made available to you as these sessions are confirmed.

Venture Taranaki will also play a role in collecting regional information on issues and impacts, and sharing this with Government so that appropriate responses can be organised and delivered.

In the meantime, we encourage you to contact our advisory team for assistance at any time, by emailing business@venture.org.nz

Venture Taranaki Professional Services Grants for Small-Medium Enterprises

To support our region's small-medium enterprises (SMEs - those with fewer than 50 staff) affected by the impacts of COVID-19, a $400 grant has been made available through Venture Taranaki, giving access to much-needed professional services advice and support.

SMEs that use one of our professional advice partners will receive an additional $400 of support, thanks to the partners’ own contribution of time; providing them with a total of up to $800 of professional services advice.

Those SMEs that wish to use their own existing service providers will still be eligible to receive the $400 grant through Venture Taranaki.

This programme is made available with support from New Plymouth District Council, Stratford District Council and South Taranak District Council.

The support enables Taranaki SMEs to access advice including legal, human resource management, financial and business continuity as they navigate the impacts of Covid-19.

To access this funding, please email Venture Taranaki at business@venture.org.nz.

Our professional services partners include:

Government support for impacted businesses

The Government has announced a comprehensive $12.1 billion package to help manage the economic impacts of Covid-19. Within this, $8.7 billion will be available to enterprises and staff to businesses who may face laying off or reducing staff hours because of COVID-19.

If you are an employer, contractor, sole trader or self-employed you may qualify to get the COVID-19 Wage Subsidy and/or Leave Payment.

When you apply you will need to provide your IRD number, business name and address, names of your employees and their IRD numbers, and contact details for your business and your employees. Processing and approving applications will happen as quickly as possible - the aim is to make payments five working days after required information has been received – but this will depend on the volume of applications received.

COVID-19 Advisory Funding (Regional Business Partner Network)

The Regional Business Partner (RBP) network has additional government funding available to support enterprises through COVID-19. This can be used to access 1-1 support with professionals who are registered as eligible providers through the RBP network.
The fund is available to access support for:

  • HR
  • Health and Wellness
  • Business Continuity Planning
  • Finance and Cashflow Management
