At Venture Taranaki, we aim to encourage growth and innovation across all sectors of the economy, and help forge links within our community to showcase and grow the region’s unique ecosystem and innovation focus. What better platform than Techweek'18 to provide a week-long opportunity for connection and cross-pollination, and an independent platform through which to amplify Taranaki’s unique and inspiring innovation stories to the world and encourage more innovation in the Taranaki community?
What is Techweek?
Techweek exists to amplify New Zealand innovation and the annual nationwide festival is the cornerstone of that purpose. Events during Techweek vary from major conferences to small meetups on niche topics, hackathons, workshops, networking events, breakfast presentations, hands on displays, factory tours … the format is up to you. The aim is for events you run during Techweek to foster growth across industries and sectors, and to build New Zealand’s reputation as a global innovation hub.
Techweek’17 was hugely successful, and the 2018 festival will be even bigger and better, with a nationwide programme focused on the theme of ‘Innovation that’s good for the world’, so use this as a guide when planning your Techweek event.
At a national level, the main headline categories established by Techweek in 2018 are:
1.       High Tech Manufacturing
2.       Food and Agriculture Tech Events
3.       Creative and Entertainment Events

Keep in mind that these are wide ranging guidelines and events can easily cross over. At a regional level we are also keen to have events around a Clean Tech and Environmental focus, so we really encourage you to join in, and find out how your idea could fit in and see who you could team up with.
