Venture Taranaki and eight Taranaki food companies showcased the region last month at New Zealand’s largest food event – The Food Show.  Held at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds, 31,590 visitors attended (an increase of 5% over the previous year) along with celebrity chefs, trade, and extensive media coverage.

“It was a great opportunity for team Taranaki to put the region’s food industry on the map – to get a taste of Taranaki, literally, leveraging the increased attention we’re already attracting through the Lonely Planet Award” , says Anne Probert, Venture Taranaki.

“The event was ideally suited for our entrepreneurial food companies who were keen to build brand exposure, feature their latest product and showcase the various ways their food product could be used. There was cooking and sampling on the stand”.

The food production industry is important to Taranaki’s regional economy, employing 4,300 people and contributing $340 million to our regional GDP. Opportunities for our food sector are strong, both in terms of developing enterprise and tourism around our products and in growing our reginal brand and global markets.

Companies on the Taranaki stand include: Marcel’s, Juno Gin, InCafe, Egmont Honey, Mike’s Beer and Naki Manuka Honey, while Green Meadows Beef and Craft Smoothie featured their products in specialised product zones at the event and Giles Chocolatier had product displayed.
