Manuka 2016

What does the future of New Zealand's manuka industry look like?

New Zealand’s honey industry is expanding, quickly, driven by significant international growth in demand for manuka honey and associated products. The opportunities for New Zealand are potentially immense and the implications are international.

As demand exceeds supply, bee keepers and honey producers need more manuka-rich sites for their hives. There are opportunities for investors, land owners and businesses to respond to market growth with products, services and new technologies. And there are also challenges and questions:  how can the validity of the product, and confidence and sustainability of the market be ensured, and can the industry’s structure support this rapid growth?

The Manuka New Zealand 2016 conference, held at Hawera’s TSB Hub event venue on 17 February 2016, brought together industry experts from around the nation to provide an update on the state of the manuka industry and a forum to discuss current opportunities and challenges to assist development.

Manuka New Zealand 2016 set out to spark conversations that could drive the industry forward to its fullest potential. Below you will find links to the event programme, speaker presentations where available, and media coverage of the event, and we encourage you to keep the conversation going.
