Under the new partnership Venture Taranaki will assess existing local businesses to determine what their needs are and assist them with a plan to help them grow. This plan will include relevant management up-skilling opportunities, connections with advisors and one-on-one coaching.
Voucher funding will be offered to businesses where there is a clear desire to grow, innovate and bring benefit to the local economy. Priority will be given to businesses that can show high growth, export or potential to export, and those in the manufacturing, tourism, IT, production and processing industries. Retail and trade businesses will be considered for voucher funding where there is significant growth and innovation potential, or impact on the Taranaki regional economy.
To qualify for a training voucher, a business must:
- Have fewer than 50 full-time employees
- Be currently trading
- Be registered for GST in New Zealand
- Be privately owned or a Maori Trust
- Discuss their business with Venture Taranaki
- Demonstrate a desire to innovate and grow
Vouchers can be redeemed for training in areas such as business planning, marketing, finance, business systems, staff management, governance, sustainability, lean manufacturing, business operations and exporting. So how do you apply for a training voucher?
1. Contact Venture Taranaki to set up a meeting with a Business Advisor.
During this confidential meeting you will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your business, your plans to grow your business, and your vision for the future.
2. The action plan.
Following the meeting, your Business Assessor will send you a summary of the meeting based on the information provided, including suggested actions that were discussed.
3. Redeeming your voucher.
You can book your training and redeem your voucher with an NZTE registered provider of your choice. Venture Taranaki will provide you with a comprehensive list of providers offering a range of workshops, courses and one-on-one coaching opportunities for you to choose from. You can choose a local provider, a provider from elsewhere in New Zealand, or opt for distance learning at your own convenience. It’s up to you.

4. Providing feedback.
Once you have redeemed your voucher, your Business Advisor will be back in touch, and you will get the opportunity to give feedback on the service you have received and discuss any further support that Venture Taranaki may be able to provide.
